The PiBlock 4AI provides the user with 4 analog inputs for the measuring range 0… 10VDC.

The inputs are separated from the A/D converter via an operational amplifier circuit. With this circuit, the signal adaptation is also carried out. The adjustment has a ratio of 3.2: 1, i.e. at 3.2V at the input, the converter measures 1V. The converter has a resolution of 12 bits and works on the principle of successive approximation.

The A/D converter is addressed via a 4-wire interface. This works according to the SPI principle. The user can choose between 3 chip select signals. Thus max. 3 PiBlock 4AI so 12 analog inputs can be operated on the Raspberry Pi. The number of inputs is reduced if other different PiBlock modules (e.g. PiBlock 4AOs) are used with the 4-wire interface.
