The PiBlock 8DO provides the user with 8 digital outputs with many features.

A separate supply voltage must be applied to the outputs. This supply voltage is designed for the range from 12VDC to 24VDC. There are 2 groups with 4 outputs each with the same GND reference potential. The output drivers used are so-called high side power switches. These drivers are short-circuit proof and current limiting. You also have overload protection and overtemperature protection. Each of these outputs can have max. 500mA drive.

The 8 output drivers are controlled by an I2C IO expander. I2C addresses in the range from 32 to 39 can be assigned to this expander using plug-in jumpers. This means that up to 7 PiBlocks can be connected to a Raspberry PI. The max. The number of outputs thus amounts to 56 outputs. The number of outputs is reduced if different PiBlock modules (e.g. PiBlock 4REL) are used with the IO expander.
